    Seeking inmate records

    Samantha McAllister Newbie

I am looking for inmate records/archives from the House of Correction in Towson, MD. I know it was deconstructed in 2011. My ancestor was sentenced for 18 months in 1956. I am wondering if this kind of information would be available anywhere.

          Dear Ms. McAllister,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

The Maryland House of Correction in Towson, MD was under the jurisdiction of what is now the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.  Because this was a department of the Maryland state government, please contact the Maryland State Archives to inquire about the disposition and availability of inmate records from the 1950s.

We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
