Dear Ms. Haney,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
Tribal nations in Pennsylvania were pushed out by settlers prior to the end of the 1700s. There will not be any Federal records that could prove Native American ancestry during that time in Pennsylvania. Since those who remained may have been assimilated, they were not documented in the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) records. American Indians living within the general population were not included in the general census schedules until 1860. Unfortunately, beyond local & state history sources or family lore, official Federal documentation does not exist.
We suggest contacting the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission for possible records in their custody. Also, please review Native American Tribes of Pennsylvania; Native American-Pennsylvania Relations, 1754-89; and The Indians of Pennsylvania for information and resources.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
