Dear Ms. Waugh,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Army WWI Final Pay Vouchers, U.S. Army Enlisted, 1917-1921, U.S. Army Enlisted Personnel Payment Records. 1915-1917, and Army World War I Officers and Nurses Pay Cards and Final Pay Vouchers, 1917-1921 which may contain payroll records for William Albrecht. These records are used by the National Personnel Records Center to reconstruct vital military data that may have been destroyed in the fire at that facility in July 1973. To request records relating to William Albrecht, please complete a GSA Standard Form 180 and mail it to NARA's National Personnel Records Center, (Military Personnel Records), 1 Archives Drive, St. Louis, MO 63138-1002. Please fill out the form to the best of your knowledge, to include his date of birth and his service number if you know these. If there is any detail about his service that the form requests that you do not know, you may leave these spaces blank, however this can make it more difficult for NARA staff to identify the correct records if there was more than one soldier with the same name.We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
