Dear Mr. Magnell,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Record Books of Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Offices of the Confederate Government in the War Department Collection of Confederate Records (Record Group 109) that includes the Company Book of McClellan Troop, Tennessee Cavalry for 1861-1862 and Rosters of Officers for 1861 that includes various organizations from Tennessee. We also located a series titled Confederate Muster and Pay Rolls, 1861-1865 in Record Group 109 that includes cavalry units. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives in Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov.Please keep in mind that due to the circumstances of the American Civil War, records for Confederate individuals and organizations did not always end up in federal custody.
We also suggest reviewing the resources listed here as well as libraries and retailers for other books written about Confederate cavalry units.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
