Dear Mr. Cannon,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1905-1981 (Record Group 407) but were unable to locate specific records of the 95th Reconnaissance Troop. Records of lower echelon units sometimes were incorporated into the files of the Division. We were able to locate an after action report pertaining to Task Force Bacon for 9 October to December 1944 in the records of the 377th Infantry Regiment, 95th Infantry Division. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
We also searched online and located an unofficial history of the 95th Infantry Division written by former members of the Division shortly after the war. The history contains numerous references to the 95th Reconnaissance Troop, as well as Task Force Bacon and the Battle of Metz. In addition, we located Reduction of Fortress Metz, 1 September – 6 December 1944: an operational report which contains two references to the troop.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
