Dear Ms. Terstriep,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Compiled Service Records of Soldiers Who Served in the American Army During the Revolutionary War, 1894-1912 in the War Department Collection of Revolutionary War Records (Record Group 93) but we were unable to locate a service record for a Benjamin Clannin and/or Benjamin Clannen. However, we suggest that you contact the National Archives in Washington - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov for them to conduct an onsite search of their Revolutionary War service records.
Since the HMS Jersey was a British ship, we suggest you contact The National Archives of the United Kingdom, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 4DU, United Kingdom for any information they may have. The website is https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
You also may wish to search American Prisoners of the Revolution: Names of 8000 Men; HMS Jersey (1736); Walking Skeletons: Starvation on Board the Jersey Prison Ship; and The HMS Jersey website for additional information.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!

We do find his name in the book of "American Prisoners of the Revolution: Names of 8000 Men, HMS Jersey" I'll pursue him through the other suggestions you gave me.
