Dear Ms. Woods,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
An Osage census was taken on June 20, 1906 and are part of National Archives Microfilm Publication No. M595. There are 42 pages, organized by band thereunder by name but we were unable to locate a reference to a Hawkins band. We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Indian Census Rolls, 1885-1940 in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Record Group 75). The records are not yet digitized in the Catalog but are digitized and available on Ancestry.
Please use this link preset year ranges for Osage (right side panel “Browse this collection”). There may be a fee for using Ancestry. However, you may view these records online at one NARA's facilities for free via a NARA PC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at https://www.archives.gov/locations/. Also, some of the images from Ancestry are available for free on Family Search at https://www.familysearch.org/en/.
We suggest that you contact the National Archives at Fort Worth (RM-FW) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or any questions regarding the Five Tribes and Dawes records in their holdings. Please also see NARA’s website on American Indian Records in the National Archives.
You may wish to search the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian for information about the Hawkins band.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
