Dear Ms. Ubele,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
Since you located an index card for this soldier, the series titled Carded Records Showing Military Service of Soldiers Who Fought in Volunteer Organizations During the American Civil War in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1762 - 1917 (Record Group 94) should include a service file for him. Additionally, the soldier’s unit records may be available in the series titled Regimental and Company Books of Civil War Volunteer Union Organizations, 1861 - 1867 also in Record Group 94. Some of these records are digitized and made available in the National Archives Catalog. For the records that are not digitized, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
