Seeking information about Michael McDonald & Elizabeth Hamlin Brown

    Pamela McDonald Newbie

Seeking information about Michael McDonald, Scottish immigrant born about 1760, married Elizabeth Hamlin Brown about 1800 in New York or Connecticut. I have not been about to find immigration records but read in a biography of Will County, IL that Michael came through Canada and settled in New England. He may have been a sailor ("sea-faring man"). Elizabeth Hamlin Brown (b. 20 Jun 1764, Massachusetts) was a widow with two children, a son Squire Brown and daughter Abigail Brown. Elizabeth married Michael McDonald around 1800/1801 as their son Asa McDonald was born 9 May 1802 in New York. There was a second child, Betsey McDonald who died in 1804. Michael reportedly disappeared or died shortly thereafter. Elizabeth Hamlin Brown McDonald then married Mr. Carl (Carll) around 1805 and had a son John Carl b. 1807. Mr. Carl died and Elizabeth married a fourth time to Jacob Hale. Mr. Hale died ante 1837.

Any information about Michael McDonald and Elizabeth Hamlin Brown McDonald would be greatly appreciated. I feel I have exhausted most of the resources available through Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org and need some assistance on other resources where I might find information.
