Dear Ms. Garzia,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We suggest that you search Italy’s Archivio Centrale dello Stato; National Archives of the United Kingdom - Italy during World War I and Family Search’s Italy Archives and Libraries for research tips and information about the manifest for the SS Ancona shipwreck in 1915.
You may also wish to search Ancona Ocean Liner; Ancona; and SS Ancona torpedo sinking for additional research tips and information.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Re: Seeking information about SS Ancona
Janet Burke Nov 13, 2020 6:12 AM (in response to janet Garzia)I found an amended list of survivors which may not be complete as it was written in a New York Times article just 6 days after the sinking and not all survivors were accounted for yet.

janet Garzia Nov 19, 2020 7:35 PM (in response to Janet Burke)thanks, Janet! I appreciate you looking for this. I can't access the link because I think I would need a subscription. However, I have gone thru all of the NYT survivor lists at our local library and pretty sure I have them all. Thanks again.

Re: Seeking information about SS Ancona
janet Garzia Nov 22, 2020 7:42 PM (in response to Janet Burke)hopefully, I can attach what I have. Are you researching a relative too? I am starting to think my ancestor was not on this ship but I cannot find another one that fits the timeline and the circumstances. If only I could find an original manifest... Here is the final list of survivors I found in the NYT.

Re: Seeking information about SS Ancona
Janet Burke Nov 23, 2020 3:43 AM (in response to janet Garzia)That's the same and only list I've come across. Yes I am also searching for family members on the original manifest. My Dad always told us about his mother and her family being torpedoed during their voyage from Italy to the US. Supposedly their family got in a lifeboat and were saved by another ship. She had a lifelong fear of large bodies of water and when visiting us in California couldn't even look at the ocean. I just want to confirm her story.
