New on loc.gov/collections: War of 1812 Bicentennial Web Archive

    LOC Manuscript Division Tracker

The War of 1812 Bicentennial Web Archive is a collection of more than 30 archives commemorating the 200th anniversary (2012-2015) of the War of 1812. The bulk of the collection is government websites of states, regions, and counties, marking the bicentennial with events and programs. While the bulk of the archives focus on the United States, there are a few that mark commemorations in Canada. Half of the sites in the collection were targeted for capture twice-yearly, with the remainder targeted for capture weekly, yearly, or once. The vast majority of items in the collection are fully accessible online. The collection connects well with the library’s significant holdings related to the War of 1812 and will be useful to researchers studying the war’s impact and memorialization.
