This is not alleged, This fact is true he was a Private in Rayens Regiment. If you go onto Family Search.com this is a free site. There you will find the Index card for the war of 1812. Good luck with your search

1 person found this helpfulDear Ms. Coleman,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Indexes to the Carded Records of Soldiers Who Served in Volunteer Organizations During the War of 1812 and the Carded Records Showing Military Service of Soldiers Who Fought in Volunteer Organizations During the War of 1812 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1762-1917 (Record Group 94) . Some records are digitized and available via the Catalog, but not those for Daniel Shatto. For access to and/or copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov. We were unable to determine the origins of the small booklet described in your request.
We also searched Ancestry and located Daniel Shatto in the War of 1812 Service Records. There may be a fee for using Ancestry. Instead, you may view these records online at one NARA's facilities for free via a NARA PC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at https://www.archives.gov/locations/. Also, some of the images from Ancestry are available for free on Family Search at https://www.familysearch.org/en/.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
