Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
According to the award listing for WWII, the 30th Infantry Division was approved on 19 December 1945 to receive the Army Distinguished Unit Citation for “Breaching of the Siegfried Line.” The Presidential Unit Citation was awarded by the Navy during WWII and was equivalent to the Army Distinguished Unit Citation.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Marita Haanschoten Dec 21, 2019 10:04 AM (in response to Rebecca Collier)Dear Ms. Collier,
Thank you very much for your reply. And my apologies for my late response.
Some websites state that Old Hickory has never received the Presidential Unit Citation. And a petition to the White House concerning the Presidential Unit Citation for Old Hickory was issued only a few years ago.
So is there somehow a difference between Old Hickory and the 30th?

Thank you for posting your follow-up request on History Hub!
According to the U.S. Army Center for Military History (CMH), they are the same unit. Please see the unit chronology of the 30th Infantry Division produced by CMH.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
