1 person found this helpfulAre you able to post the images here, or share links to where you found them? Other users may be able to help identify them.
If you haven't already, you may also want to search the National Archives Catalog to see if any of these have been digitized and are available online. Use the refine links on the left side of the results page to filter the search to show only "Data Source: Archival Descriptions with Digital Objects" and "Type of Materials: Photographs and other Graphic Materials"
For example, this search will return all currently digitized photos from the Signal Corps. (note that no results were found searching for "83584")
Good luck with your research!

Ernest Parks Sep 19, 2019 9:01 AM (in response to Darren Cole)1 person found this helpfulThank you for your response! The image that I referred to was one of several that were used in a book from the "Images of America" series. Its title is "Old San Carlos". Old San Carlos was the site of an Indian Agency and military post on the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona. I have included a copy of the image that I referred to in my original post. I am interested in how the officers' quarters were constructed and wondered if there might be other views of those buildings available. I could not figure out how to do a search using the information contained in the citation provided with the image.

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Plans of Military Posts in the United States, 1840 - 1947 in the Records of the Office of the Chief of Engineers (Record Group 77) that includes the file unit San Carlos Reservation, Texas. The records are not available yet as digital images in the Catalog. We also located 2 series that may contain images of Old San Carlos in Photographs of Forts and Military Housing, 1941-1942 and Photographic Albums of the Completion of Military Housing Projects, 1927- 1936 in the Records of the Office of the Chief of Engineers (Record Group 77). These records are not available yet as digital images in the Catalog. For access to and/or copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Still Pictures (RDSS) via email at stillpix@nara.gov.
In addition, we located a series Records Concerning Indian Reservations of the Lower Colorado River Basin, 1951 - 1956 in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Record Group 75) that includes a file unit titled Folder 12. San Carlos Reservation - Apache. These records are not available yet as digital images in the Catalog.
