Dear Mr. Hicks,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Logbooks, 1942 - 1947 in the Records of the U.S. Coast Guard (Record Group 26) that include logs for the USCGC Nogak which have been digitized and can be viewed online through the Catalog. From the earliest log dating August 1942 through November 1943, the commanding officer is listed as G. Oakley Jr. His rank progresses from ensign through lieutenant during this time period. On November 24, 1943 a change of command is recorded. Lt. G. Oakley, USCGR, was relieved as commanding officer by Lt. (jg) Sloan Wilson, USCGR, under the authority of Commandant dispatch 070253.We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
