Was able to see that he did register for the civil war draft registration in Dunnmore, Pennsylvania 12th Congressional District on July 1st 1863. Do.you know his exact date of birth or close to it. Also found a other Michael McCabe who registered for civil war in same month and year but in Ostego, New York.
Do you know if family settled their before I also noticed that on McCabe was 16 and the other one was 20. I'm starting to think he may have tried enlisting at 16 years old according to records. Then you see Michael McCabe show up in the next Congressional district over from.the 12th District and shows up on their registers as age 20. Not sure if any of this makes sense, but sounds like he wanted to serve was denied based on age. Then he went to next town over and registered for the draft their instead.
Any event here is who I think is your ancestor enlisted in the civil war below with the Pennsylvania Regiment.
Enlistment Place: Pottsville, Pennsylvania, USA
Muster Date: 1 Jul 1863
Muster Place: Pottsville, Pensylvania, USA
Rank: Private
Unit Type: Infantry
Regiment: 39th Pennsylvania Militia
Company: G
Thanks,
Elliot Schneider
