          Katina,

If you know what unit he was in chances are the unit or higher HQ may have association or groups for veterans and family members to join. Worth looking into many of these individuals in associations meet on an annual basis and are good for meeting others that may have served with your individual.

          V/R

            Dear Ms. Windle,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We suggest requesting his Official Military Personnel File (OMPF). OMPFs and individual medical reports for those who served in the U.S. Air Force after 1956 and prior to May 1, 1994 are in the custody of NARA's National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. In many cases where personnel records were destroyed in the 1973 fire, proof of service can be provided from other records such as morning reports, payrolls, and military orders, and a certificate of military service will be issued. Please complete a GSA Standard Form 180 and mail it to NARA's National Personnel Records Center, (Military Personnel Records), 1 Archives Drive, St. Louis, MO  63138-1002. Certain information in the records is not available to the general public without the written consent of the veteran or his next of kin.

Once you know what unit he served with, please check the unit morning reports for an unofficial listing of who was assigned to the unit. Morning reports for Air Force units from September 1947 to June 30, 1966 are in the custody of the National Archives at St. Louis (RL-SL). For access to these records, please contact RL-SL via email at stl.archives@nara.gov

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
