1 person found this helpfulDear Ms Dunlap,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Logbooks of U.S. Navy Ships, ca. 1801-1940 in the Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (Record Group 24) that includes deck logs of the USS N-2 for October, 11 1922. The information you seek might be recorded in it. For access to the deck logs, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!

Re: Seeking official reports on USS N-2 (SS-54)
Sandra Dunlap Oct 10, 2019 12:14 PM (in response to Sandra Dunlap)Thanks Jason. I received the deck log from the N-2 for the date in question that had a bit more detail than the newspaper accounts which helped with my research. I'm waiting on a reply from the Submarine Museum archivists in Groton, CT (as both boats were homeported there) as to whether or not they have copies of the actual reports sent to the Department of the Navy.
