Re: Seeking troop movements of unit after V-E Day
joan stachnik Aug 21, 2019 12:39 PM (in response to renewilliams)Ms Williams, have you looked at the Morning Reports for the unit from V-E day onward? These should include where the unit was on a daily basis as well as transfers in and out of the unit. The ones I have read have documented a unit's location/actions until they returned to the US through demobilization. Hope this is of help to you, joan

2 people found this helpfulDear Ms. Williams,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office (Record Group 407) and located a journal for March 1945 to 9 February 1946 of the 280th Field Artillery Battalion. It may provide where the unit was after V-E Day. For access to and/or copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
