1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Appel,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Muster Rolls and Personnel Diaries, 1941-1980 in the Records of the U.S. Marine Corps (Record Group 127). The unit diary portion of the muster rolls for 1968 should indicate when members of the 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine were killed in action. For access and/or copies of unit muster rolls that are part of series listed above, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
We also located two series titled Navy and Marine Corps Casualty Records, 1940-1989 (arranged chronologically and thereunder by surname) and Navy and Marine Corps Casualty Records, 1898-1970 (arranged by service unit and thereunder by surname) in the Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (Record Group 24) that could possibly be used to create a list or provide information about a particular deceased Marine. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at St. Louis (RL-SL) via email at stl.archives@nara.gov.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
