Seeking case file for McNeil Island federal penitentiary

    David Driscoll Newbie

I am trying to find the case file for an inmate at McNeil Island federal penitentiary: Fong, Hop, no. 9794, imprisoned July 11, 1932 to Feb. 17, 1934. You can see his record in the prison registry on Ancestry here: https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/1253/RHUSAWA1887_060529-00470?pid=12024&backurl=https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin…

The NARA catalog, however, says that they only have McNeil Island case files until 1920: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/608858

And according to the catalog, the index inmate cards are the only records for many inmates after 1951: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/24330417

Is it true then that "all McNeil Island inmate files and photographs dating after about 1920 were destroyed," as this web page says? http://www.discovernikkei.org/en/journal/2013/6/22/nara-seattle-2/
