    Seeking Apache Records of Relatives

How do I go about finding records of mother and grandfather who are Apache?

          Dear Mr. Finch,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We suggest that you search the National Archives website for research tips about Native American Heritage and use the Indian Census Rolls to identify which Apache tribe your mother and grandmother were members of because many tribes colloquially are known together as Apache.

Once you know the Apache tribe, then you also can use the above website to find which BIA agency administered the tribe, plus identify other records that might be held at NARA facilities such as the National Archives at Riverside.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
