Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
You may be able to locate correspondence about the Cherokee boarding school in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Record Group 75) since this was a non-BIA managed school. If a letter was received by the Commissioner, you should be able to find it first in the index Registers of Letters Received, 1881-1907 (see National Archives Microfilm Publication No. P2186) and then in the series Letters Received, 1881 - 1907 that are not microfilmed. For access and/or copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov.
We also suggest that you search for information on Duke University’s website about the Cherokee boarding school at Trinity College in Durham, NC.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
