Dear Ms. Morris,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We suggest that you search for any information about Joseph Spence and Mary Morrison on various websites such as the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, the Washington County Historical Society, the Genealogical Society of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and the
Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society.
We also suggest that review the information on Family Search for Washington County, PA. In addition, you may be able to find useful information on John Spence’s life in Belfast by using this Irish Genealogy Tool-kit site as it is more likely that a passenger list could exist about their departure from Ireland rather than their arrival to America.
Since the digitized images of the Population Schedules for the 1800 Census have not been added to the National Archives Catalog yet, we searched Ancestry and located a Joseph Spence in Washington County, PA. in the 1800 Census. We suggest that you continue searching the 1810, 1820, and 1830 census. There may be a fee for using this service. However, you may view these records online at one NARA's facilities for free via a NARA PC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at https://www.archives.gov/locations/. Also, some of the images from Ancestry are available for free on Family Search at https://www.familysearch.org/en/.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
