Dear Ms. Wetherill,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located two series Compiled Service Records of Soldiers Who Served in the American Army During the Revolutionary War and Revolutionary War Rolls in the War Department Collection of Revolutionary War Records (Record Group 93). The first series was microfilmed as National Archives Microfilm Publication No. M881 and cards for Jethro Thistle/Thestle are located on Roll 457. The second series microfilmed as National Archives Microfilm Publication No. M246, Rolls 38-19 and a Jethro Thistle/Thestle is located on page 84. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC (RDT1) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Since the digital images are not available yet in the Catalog, we conducted a search in Ancestry. The records listed above for Jethro Thistle/Thestle are now available in digital form and can be viewed online via Ancestry. There may be a fee for this service. Or you may view these records online at one NARA's facilities for free via ALIC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at https://www.archives.gov/locations/. Also, we located an index to the Massachusetts Muster Rolls, 1775-1783 that include some images pertaining to Jethro Thistle. These are available for free on FamilySearch.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
