You may want to seek any records for Ft Stewart especially any medical records or LODs that the base may have records pertaining to an investigation into his murder. Usually they can conduct a company levels investigation or they are can use the IG or Inspector General to aid in the investigation. I would start by requesting his full military file they may have most of this in his file.
Thanks,
Elliot Schneider

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
For Army personnel, NARA's National Personnel Records Center will verify the awards to which a veteran is entitled and forward the request with the verification to the appropriate service department for issuance of the medals. For requesting medals and awards, please use eVetRecs or please complete a GSA SF 180 and send the form to NARA's Military Personnel Records, National Personnel Records Center, 1 Archives Drive, St. Louis, MO 63138-1002. Provide as much information as possible in Section II under "other."
We hope this information is helpful.
