2 people found this helpfulDear Ms. Naughton,
Thank you for posting your re quest on the History Hub!
Since your family left Ireland and entered into Canada instead of the U.S., we suggest that you contact The Library and Archives Canada and several resources for Irish genealogy including the National Library of Ireland which has Catholic Parish Records and the National Archives of Ireland which has census records.
We conducted a search on Ancestry and located documents such as a 1881 death record for a Timothy Naughton in Ontario, Canada and him in the 1881, 1871 and 1861 Census of Canada. To view these records on Ancestry, there may be a fee. Or you could view the records online at one NARA's facilities for free via ALIC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at https://www.archives.gov/locations/. Many of the records are also available on FamilySearch for free. FamilySearch also has a wiki page on Irish genealogy.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
