Additional information pertaining to the Port Chicago explosion is available on the Navy Historical and Heritage Command web site at https://www.history.navy.mil/content/history/nhhc/research/library/online-reading-room/title-list-alphabetically/p/port-chicago-ca-explosion.html. Also, according to the Navy Historical and Heritage Command, there was a William Allaire Snedeker in the Navy.
