You might be interested in US Army/Army Air Force: Units from UK Station List (as of 30 April 1944). I also found a reference to HQ/ETO Station List, 4/30/44 and reference Box 15, 270/48/32/2 on the following website. While this is latter than the period you are researching, hopefully it is useful. There may also be earlier station lists with the HQ/ETO (Headquarters, European Theater of Operations) records. These records are in the custody of National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) which can be contacted via email at email@example.com.
An additional option for learning the information you are seeking is requesting his Official Military Personnel File from the National Personnel Records Center. While many of these records were destroyed in the 1973 fire, there are some that still survive as well as other records unaffected by the fire that can help provide information.
