Dear Ms. Newmann,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched on Ancestry and located a Josephine Alice Rogan married to a Norman Frederick Newmann on a family tree. We also located a Josephine on the Kansas 1930 Census born c.1920 and a Social Security Death index record for a Josephine A. Newmann born in 1919. To view these records on Ancestry, there may be a fee. Or you may view these records online at one NARA's facilities for free via ALIC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at https://www.archives.gov/locations/. Also, some of the images from Ancestry are available for free on Family Search at https://www.familysearch.org/en/.
We also suggest that you search vital records in the state of your adoption for an original birth record once you have determined whether the adoption was open or closed. Here is a page on state law regarding adoption records. There are several options for locating adoption records such as joining a reunion registry, searching a database for adoptees and their birth parents or taking a DNA test. You could also try contacting the adoption agency.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck on your research!
Hi Kris, I am also looking for my mother’s birth mother, Josephine Alison Rogan Newmann. Your picture on Facebook looks like you could be related to my mother and her sister (twins). Could you please contact me? I have found quite a bit on ancestry.com.
