3 people found this helpfulDear Ms. Tollett,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We located a Giovanni Maffei on MyHeritage, and a Giovanni “John” Simone Maffei on Find A Grave, as well as an Adelina Marie Senechal Maffei. We searched on Ancestry and located a Giovanni Simone Maffei family tree. To view this family tree on Ancestry, there may be a fee.
Depending on when he became a citizen, he should have a record available through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Genealogy Program (www.uscis.gov/genealogy). At minimum, there would be an Alien Registration Form (AR-2) that could be requested. The records “should” provide additional information regarding Giovanni’s entrance to the U.S. that then could be used to search for a specific passenger arrival record. On the AR-2, information includes the name(s) the individual used when entering the U.S., date of first entry into the U.S,, and the date/place/vessel of entry for permanent residence. Please consult the USCIS page and search the index before requesting a record if you do not know the individual’s A-number. You may request these records online or by mail.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck on your research!
