Dear Mr. Johnson,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled Organizational History Files, 1959 - 1973 in the Records of the U.S. Army, Pacific (Record Group 550) that included a file unit Unit Histories: 26th Artillery.
According to the Vietnam Order of Battle produced by the U.S. Army, Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 26th Artillery arrived in Vietnam on 17 October 1967 and departed on 12 February 1968. Battery C was a target acquisition battery on 90-180 days temporary duty from Fort Bragg and attached to the 108th Artillery Group. Its assets were used to form Battery F, 26th Artillery (Target Acquisition) that departed Vietnam on 31 July 1971.
We also searched the Catalog and located a series titled Artillery Unit Records, ca. 1965 - ca. 1972 in the Records of the U.S. Forces in Southeast Asia (Record Group 472) that include records of the 108th Artillery Group for 1968-1971.
For access to the unit history of the 26th Artillery and records of the 108th Artillery Group, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
I was reading my father's DD 214 form and noticed his last duty assignment was B/2d TAB 26th Arty. He was also discharged July 1968. His name was Julian Costa. Did you know him?
