Dear Ms. Smith,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!.
You are looking for the patent issued to your (potential) Great Grandfather Charles Harrison. According to the BLM General Land Office website (www.glorecords.blm.gov) Mr. Harrison patented land in the Walla Walla Land Office in Washington for township 10 North, Range 36 East, Section 34 under the authorization of the 1862 Homestead Act. A more detailed description of this can be found at https://glorecords.blm.gov/details/patent/default.aspx?accession=WAWWAA%20021660&docClass=SER&sid=t3fgby1i.zp4#patentDetailsTabIndex=0. From what I can see his patent number is 1549. Additionally there are 4 other patents issued to Charles Harrison in Washington. They can be seen as well at https://glorecords.blm.gov/results/default.aspx?searchCriteria=type=patent|st=WA|cty=|ln=Harrison|fn=Charles|sp=true|sw=true|sadv=false.
You can request Mr. Harrisons Land Entry File (NATF 84) online from the National Archives in Washington, DC at https://eservices.archives.gov/orderonline/start.swe?SWECmd=Start&SWEHo=eservices.archives.gov. Before doing this I would try to verify through the census records that your Charles Harrison was living on or near this parcel of land, or perhaps one of the others, before you request the file.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research,
