    Seeking family of Ray Everson

    Newbie

I recently found a set of dogtags from WWII, and would like to return them to the family.

          Dear Ms. Talkington,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

The information you seek about his family may be contained in his burial case file (later called the Individual Deceased Personnel File or IDPF). Burial case files from 1915-1976 are in the custody of the National Archives at St. Louis (RL-SL), P.O. Box 38757, St. Louis, MO 63138-1002. For access to and/or copies of his IDPF, please contact RL-SL via email at stl.archives@nara.gov.

As you can see, the records in the custody of the National Archives typically are transferred from other Federal agencies at least 20-30 years after they were created and used. Therefore, the address in the IDPF may not be helpful in providing current information about individuals but may give you a starting place your search.

We hope this information is useful. Best of luck with your research.
