1 person found this helpfulThat's not Major General Macon. It's a picture of Major General Matthew B. Ridgway, Commanding General, 82nd Airborne Division, taken sometime after the Sicily Campaign. The sand and olive drab paint job on his helmet is really distinctive.

There is also some grainy footage of General Macon accepting the surrender of German troops at Beaugency in this newsreel in the National Archives Catalog. The scene begins at around the 3:00 mark:
