Our records at the National Archives at San Francisco regarding the search for Earhart include under Record Group 181, charts of the search area and correspondence and communications for the 12TH NAVAL DISTRICT, COMMANDANT'S OFFICE and the NAVAL STATION #129 AMERICAN SAMOA , COMMANDANT'S OFFICE.
While the information we have concerning any search for the 1938 Hawaii Clipper disappearance is not likely to be as specifically detailed concerning the exact locations of the contents, we are also likely to have pertinent records within our navy records.
To obtain further information about these records, you can contact our facility at sanbruno.archives@nara.gov.

You may wish to search Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers from the Library of Congress for accounts in historical newspapers relating to the Earhart/Noonan and Hawaii Clipper disappearances.
If you have not already, you may also wish to search the Library's catalog for materials relating to your research. You may also seek assistance finding secondary sources at your local public or university library.
Perhaps the Institute of Aerospace Sciences Archives or Elmo N. Pickerill Papers in the custody of the Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress may be of interest to you. Each of these collections contains files relating to Amelia Earhart.
This web guide also provides a good overview of the Library's resources relating to Amelia Earhart.
Best of luck in your research!
