Researching role of American servicemen and women in India during WWII, in military or other war-related agencies. Seeking official documents as well as private letters, diaries, or other forms of primary source material. Have located good material on on-line memorial sites dedicated to the CBI Theater.
One source would be General Joseph Stillwell's personal diary entries for the WW2 period. He was the ranking officer for the China, Burma, India theater for much of WW2 and the diaries are a notable source of his often very frank views on various issues and people.
They are held at the Hoover Library and it looks like they are now fully available in digitized form online.
