    Thomas Terry Newbie

I need the information on this unit name: Company C, 1st Battalion, 52nd Mechanized Infantry, Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany and the unit was deactivated in 2017.   Where can I find this information?

          Dear Mr. Terry,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the Records of U.S. Regular Army Mobile Units, 1821-1942 (Record Group 391) and the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1905-1981 (Record Group 407) and located records of the 52nd Infantry during WWI and 52nd Armored Infantry during WWII, respectively. We also searched the Records of the United States Forces in Southeast Asia, 1950-1975 (Record Group 472) and located daily journals of 1/52nd Infantry and Co. C, 52nd Infantry while in Vietnam. For access to and/or copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.

Unit records from 1985 to the present (except for the first Gulf War) are in the legal custody of the Army. For the exact location of these files, please contact Anthony Crawley-Gibson, Army Records Officer, Army Records Management Division, 7701 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22315. The telephone number is 703-428-6464 and email is anthony.d.crawley-gibson.civ@mail.mil. Please request the name of the facility, transfer numbers, and box numbers.

The Lineage and Honors of the 52nd is available from the U.S. Army Center of Military History at https://history.army.mil/html/forcestruc/lineages/branches/inf/0052in-coc.htm.
