Dear Ms. Crabb,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the series Indexes to the Carded Records of Soldiers Who Served in Volunteer Organizations During the Civil War, 1899 - 1927 in Record Group 94 and located a file unit for David Davis in 62nd Infantry, Company G.
The Compiled Military Service Records (CMSR) and the pension files may include personal information to determine where David Davis lived. For access to and/or copies of these series, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC (RDT1) via email at email@example.com. These records are also available on ancestry.com and/or familysearch.org.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
I did contact the National Archives and received a reply today. As I suspected it is a different David Davis than my ancestor. Thank you for your assistance with my question.
Hello! David G Davis of the 62nd OVI is my paternal great-grandfather and I have info on him! I also have a picture of his gravesite.
Please contact me!
Found a David Davis mentioned in the following book on page 38. He was discharged in 1862 with a disability,
There may be other David's that I missed..
Do you have any additional family information? Looking to see if he was married, had children and so forth. Any information may help to narrow my search for your individual.
