    Layout of Camp Johnston, TX

    Wayfarer

Does anyone know where to look for a layout style map of Camp Joseph Johnston near North Concho River, TX (1852)? You know, a drawing of where buildings, or structures were? 289 people were garrisoned there.

New at this, so thanks so much. Where to start?

          Dear Ms. Doss,

Thank you for posting your request to History Hub!

We consulted with our colleagues in National Archives at College Park - Cartographic (RDSC) but were unable to locate a plan or layout of the camp.  If the National Archives has any records at all related to the camp, they would be with National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1).  Please contact RDT1 via email at archives1reference@nara.gov

Also, please refer to our previous reply for additional resources as well as contacting the US Army Center for Military History.

We hope you find this information useful.  Best of luck with your research!
