Seeking architectural & engineering drawings for building in Munising, MI

    Rod DesJardins Newbie

Looking for architectural and engineering drawings for the old city fire hall in Munising, Michigan, built as a WPA project in 1936-1938. We are seeking to preserve and redevelop this historic structure and are in need of the original building plans. The architect was Godfrey Arntzen from Escanaba, Michigan, and the builders was Riopelle and Beyers, Marquette, Michigan.

          Dear Mr. DesJardins,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog for WPA projects in Michigan and located several series describing the projects in the state. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the building plans or architectural and engineering drawings for the old city hall in Munising.  It was usual for plans and drawing to remain in the locality where the projects were held since the WPA supplied the manpower and finances.

We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
