Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
As our deck log digitization project continues, please return periodically to the National Archives Catalog to check on our progress concerning the USS Detroit (AOE-4) for 1979, 1980, and 1981. For access to other Navy records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.

According to the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2), the microfiche of these deck logs is available for viewing in the Microfilm Reading Room (Room 4050). Reading room hours are 8:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, except legal holidays. Prior to your visit, please consult NARA’s website at https://www.archives.gov/dc-metro/college-park/.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

garlandg Apr 11, 2019 1:30 PM (in response to garlandg)Thank you, that's very helpful information. I do have a follow up question. If the logs have been transferred to Microfiche, would copies of those microfiche rolls be at other National Archive locations and available for viewing?

The microfiche was produced by the U.S. Navy and is considered the record copy of these deck logs. That is why the National Archives is making digital copies of the microfiche.
We hope this information is helpful.
