The Local Boards were to determine the eligibility of the draftees. Depending on the location of the Local Board, they may already know the draftees while those in large cities did not. We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 129 series pertaining to Local Boards in the Records of the Selective Service System (World War I) (Record Group 163). Hopefully, the documentation requested by the Local Boards is included in these records. For access to and copies of these records, please contact the specific NARA unit that has custody of the records.
