Deck logs for USS Duxbury Bay, 1944-1948

    Ryan Hilderbrand Newbie

First post! My grandfather served on board the USS Duxbury Bay (AVP-38) during the Second World War until his service ended in 1947. I am attempting to reconstruct the path he and his shipmates took during this time as a part of a family history project. Does anyone know where I can get deck logs for this ship from its initial cruise out of San Diego, CA through 31 December 1947? Thank you, ahead of time, for any assistance / leads you can provide!

          Dear Mr. Hilderbrand,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (Record Group 24) and located deck logs of the USS Duxbury Bay (AVP-38) for 12 March 1945 when it sailed from San Diego to December 31, 1947. We also located muster rolls of the Duxbury Bay for the same time period. For access to and copies of these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.

We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
