Thank you for posting your question to History Hub. A search of the National Archives Catalog (archives.gov/catalog) brings up a few series of records that may contain relevant information:
- Naturalization Case Files from the U.S. District Court for Puerto Rico
- State Department Nationality and Citizenship Files, which includes a file on Puerto Rican nationality issues.
Contact information for the facilities that hold these records can be found in each catalog record.
In addition, our facility here in Boston also holds a series called Various Applications for Repatriations, which includes one small folder with documents related to Oaths of Allegiance for Puerto Ricans living in Massachusetts whose parents had elected to keep their allegiance to Spain. Most of these records date to 1938, so they may not be relevant to your current research. If you would like more information on these records, you can email us at boston.archives@nara.gov.
Best of luck with your research!
