2 people found this helpfulDear Mr. Friend,
Thank you for posting your follow-up request on History Hub!
If you have been discharged or retired from military service, your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) is stored in St. Louis at the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The NPRC is the official repository for records of military personnel who have been discharged or retired from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard. See https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/about-service-records.html for more information.
If the NRPC is not able to locate your OMPF and if you filed a claim for VA benefits, then your file (especially your medical records) may be with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Records Management Center (VARMC), 4300 Goodfellow Blvd. Bldg# 104, St. Louis, MO 63120. Please write or call them. The telephone number is 1-888-533-4558. See https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/medical-records.html and/or https://benefits.va.gov/benefits/ for more information.
We hope this is helpful.
(2/12/2020: Updated address of VARMC)
