Re: I'm trying to search records for M1 carbine, Inland SN 5077355
Michael Tomko Jun 12, 2018 2:14 PM (in response to Rick Scruggs)The CMP does have a list of M1 Garand Serial Numbers. They may have M1 Carbine serials as well.
I would check the Civilian Marksmanship Program website and Forum.

Re: I'm trying to search records for M1 carbine, Inland SN 5077355
Rick Scruggs Jun 12, 2018 3:50 PM (in response to Michael Tomko)I am a CMP member. They only provide the SN's of the rifles sold by them, no historical data. I had a friend who died who got information on some of my rifles. He told me that the information he gathered came from the National Archives. It was my understand that not all serial numbers small arms were in the data base, however, the Serial number I'm looking for was in a data base.....that what I'm searching for. Regards, Rick.

1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Scruggs,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
Military records in NARA custody do not include the record of assignment and operational activity of individual pieces of equipment, including rifles. Under normal War Department and Department of the Army records management procedures, such documentation would be destroyed after initial administrative use.
We hope this information is helpful.
