Has anyone ever compiled a list of people who were incarcerated during the Vietnam War for violations of the Selective Service Act, specifically for refusing induction or refusing to register for the draft?
I'm trying to find out if there are any lists of those who were imprisoned during the Vietnam War for refusing induction or refusing to register for the draft. I've read that there were approximately 3,000 to 3,500 of such incarcerated young men.
Dear Mr. Turchick,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the Records of the Selective Service System, 1940- (Record Group 147) and located several series that may contain the information you seek to compile a listing of those incarcerated during the Vietnam War. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
