Dear Ms. Briles,
Thank you for consulting History Hub!
The National Archives does not have an image of Toypurina of the Tongva. Toypurina died in 1799, before the invention of photography, and no images of her were created during her life (or have survived). Evidence of her life and achievements is found only in the transcripts of her trial in 1785 at Mission San Gabriel. These are held by the Archivo General de la Nación, the Mexican General Archives, in the records of the Provincias Internas, vol. 120. However, the trial and Toypurina’s role in the uprising are discussed in detail in academic literature. We recommend using academic databases and search engines for sources.
We wish you all the best with your research.
