Thank you for contacting the History Hub re: pensions. Could you be more specific on the details of the soldier? Name and regiment? I might be able to review the index card online for you?
Normally, invalid soldiers apply and receive an application number. If they are approved, they will receive a certificate number. If they are declined, the certificate number will not be assigned, thus blank space on the soldier's index card.
You may request pension files in person (Free) or online ($).

Thanks Jenette! I hope to be able to access my backup files in this lifetime to give you more information. It's got me stumped but first I have to figure out how and from where my basement is flooding. I hate it when life gets in my way - it never makes an appointment!
